Review: Kim Blythe: Might As Well

Kim Blythe, aka Kimbo from TikTok, ventures into live comedy in her Edinburgh debut, Might As Well, which assures her internet fans that she’s just as funny and authentic in real life.

Might As Well is a classic comedy hour, mining jokes from Blythe’s childhood, previous relationship with Barbie, hiding her sexuality from her football team, and bum drops (IYKYK). She gets a lot of opinions on her appearance and body shape online, which she addresses in the show, with her arse having the last laugh.

How people perceive her is well-illustrated in anecdotes about the difference between working in a call centre, where people can see her, and a pub, where they can’t. Amidst the appreciation from fans, she gets a lot of abuse, which she of course makes into comedy gold, but it genuinely feels like words couldn’t break her. And on stage she can totally relax, as the live audience – many of whom clearly know her from TikTok – are right behind her.

Blythe’s routine isn’t extraordinary and some stories are too long but the punchlines are worth the wait. She’s naturally funny, the real deal and comfortable in her own skin, successfully taking the next step in her comedy career.
