There’s plenty of drama for kids to watch at the Fringe, but they can get involved too. We sent three of our young reporters to Spotlite’s themed drama workshops to tell us what goes on.

Molly (8): Dragons, Dinosaurs and Monsters
I felt scared when I went in, but then it was really fun. We got a map and followed it and the adults pretended to be dinosaurs. We went into a lighthouse and we dressed up in cloth clothes, I had an orange dress. I think it was meant to be like back in olden days, when there were dinosaurs and dragons and stuff.

Orla (11):  Roald Dahl
I played the Granny in George’s Marvellous Medicine. It was really fun, I sat on my rocking chair making funny faces and pretending to be ill. Then later we were doing Matilda and this girl was pretending to have a zappy finger, so she zapped this boy who kept collapsing and getting up again. It was really funny.

Kirsty (11) - Doctor Who
We acted out being lots of Doctor Who monsters, and there was lots of fights and battle scenes going on. I do watch Doctor Who, but I think it would have made more sense if you’d watched all the episodes. Then a dalek came out – a full-sized dalek with a person inside, and all of us kids went mental.
