A darkly-comic tour de force by 19-year-old actress and writer Eva O'Connor, Clinical Lies is a gem of a play.
Combining drama with snippets of contemporary dance to tell the story of a nihilistic teenager left pregnant after being raped doesn't sound like a promising premise. But it's a hugely satisfying, immaculately-constructed tale with a truly mind-blowing twist.
It's a shame that O'Connor's supporting cast suffer slightly in comparison to her, struggling to offer anything more than two dimensional characterisations. But she is clearly a major talent and a magnetic stage presence, utterly believable as the tortured teen unburdening her soul.
