Clever Peter, with Blood, Sweat and Tears, have crafted a sketch show that lives up to the troupe’s name. To begin with, a noose hanging from the ceiling makes for a tantalising start to a strong hour. Although the individual sketches are not the most original, these energetic comedians keep the audience hooked with their fast-paced manner of performance. There are, however, a few surprises in store, as the sketches dovetail to form a series of recurring threads sustained over the hour.

Clever Peter seem intent on maintaining a certain rough-round-the-edges charm, with lopsided wigs and men’s clothing on female characters giving the show a deliberately unconvincing feel. Dancing around while replacing props during blackouts, slipping out of accents, and occasionally struggling to suppress a smirk, they present a wonderfully shambolic show.
