Best known as quirky Aunt Hilda in late '90s teen sitcom Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Caroline Rhea’s first love, she tells us, has always been standup. And it’s easy to see why – she’s a skilled performer, full of energy and gifted with a natural comic timing. Playing to a reserved audience (whose exposure to comedy probably starts and ends with late '90s sitcoms), Rhea does her best to create an atmosphere, gently mocking her Scottish hosts to good effect. Routines about Julie Andrews and Sigourney Weaver are similarly well-constructed, if a little safe. Rhea’s short set is neat but lacks any real originality or narrative focus – additions that might be necessary if she plans a return visit to the Fringe anytime soon.
