Barry Cryer’s ‘sit-down’ show sees him amble through the alphabet, reminiscing about great comics he has worked with and written for, including Tommy Cooper, Jack Benny and Humphrey Lyttelton. The premise is that Cryer’s advanced years are taking their toll on his short-term memory, causing him to get distracted and lose his train of thought. In reality, of course, he is in total control; but the conceit is charming nonetheless. His style is old-fashioned and, though you may have heard some of the jokes before, Cryer is a master at work and a real pleasure to watch.
