A handmade, fort-like series of interconnected boxes is the stage and musical base for Swedish performance trio Kellerman's A Trip to the Moon. Through puppetry we are told the story of a king, a prince and an inventor who are launched to the moon, and encounter a parallel kingdom in which love is forbidden.
Everything in this performance is child-like and goofy, and elicits laughs from an audience of diverse ages. This, however, only serves to distract from clumsy and largely ad-libbed narration, which is made charming only by the production's overall quaintness, and our protagonist's imperfect grasp of the English language.
Stage finesse was clearly never a priority for Kellerman, who seem to want little more than to show off their truly impressive one-man-band-cum-spaceship.
